How to use

The ButtFREE Toolkit is designed to be used step by step to develop a butt littering reduction project.

Each section provides background, actions and tools to produce data or text for a project plan, followed by guidance to measure, implement, evaluate and report on the project.

The sections can be used on their own, if other elements are to be addressed at another time or by another person.

For example, you may have installed enough butt bins, but need to focus on Education to motivate people to use them. Or perhaps you are managing a project overall, but a separate department will handle media – you could forward the Awareness Section to guide them on the ButtFREE approach.

The Toolkit will help produce a detailed plan and provides guidance to measure, implement, evaluate and report on the project. It does not contain detailed information on project management skills, providing a checklist only for implementation.

The ButtFREE Toolkit and its methodology are offered freely for use in butt littering reduction projects.

PLEASE NOTE: The use of Butt Free or ButtFREE and branding (colours, font and call to action - "PLEASE BUTT IT, THEN BIN IT®") is encouraged but NOT AVAILABLE FOR USE unless in partnership or consultation with Butt Free Australia.

Action – How to use

Download the ButtFREE Project plan TEMPLATE from the Tools list below.
Work through each section in the order presented.
Carry out Actions for each section to prepare a plan.
Use the plan completed at the Measurement Section to propose partnerships, secure funding and build a team.
Use the remaining sections to Implement, Evaluate and Report on the project.

Butt Free Australia advises that unless each of the ButtFREE Solutions has been considered, a project has inadequately planned to ensure its effectiveness.
